Class Associations

Maritime Class Associations, also known as Classification Societies, are organizations that set technical and operational standards for the design, construction, and maintenance of ships and marine structures. They inspect vessels and issue class certificates, which are essential for safety, insurance, and regulatory compliance. The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) is an umbrella group that includes many of the world's major class societies, such as the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Bureau Veritas, and Lloyd's Register.
